Aelurillus v-insignitus 💃🕺 Already one of my abso Aelurillus v-insignitus 💃🕺

Already one of my absolute favorite shots from this years season and a picture I envisioned for some years now. There are two angles of these mating rituals that are extremely awesome to photograph and that would be the frontal view of the male as a closeup and this one, where you can the male and female and their interaction. This picture consists of 103 single images because of the quite big distance between the two.

I have posted some Videos of their dance in my story. So maybe I’ll make a reel out of the material I have gathered so far 🙌

Unfortunately I wasn’t with the lucky few finalist Unfortunately I wasn’t with the lucky few finalists in the #hasselbladmasters competition. However I still wanted to at least show my entry publicly.

A small series of pictures from a landscape close to my heart:

“Border Stories” is a view into rural Czechia and the landscape of Šumava Nationalpark, which was shaped by the establishment of the “iron curtain” 1945, right on the German-Czech border.

The landscape back then, in which my ancestors lived, was marked by a peaceful farming-community, which was mostly living from homegrown crops, animals and whatever the forest gave to them. World War 2 and the following “Iron curtain” tore the people from both sides of the border apart. Houses, homes and most places of cultural significance like churches, were destroyed. Exclusion zones were established. Almost 7000 kilometers of fences were built and crossing the border was absolutely forbidden, with border patrol being allowed to use deadly force against anyone who attempted to cross or to flee.

These exclusion zones lay mostly dormant until the fall of the iron curtain in 1989. In this period of time Nature reclaimed almost everything that was left of the former settlements. The absence of modern farming kept the meadows and ecosystems in a healthy and diverse state, on which nowadays the Šumava Nationalpark, together with the local communities, is working hard and tirelessly to protect.

It took quite some time to reestablish bonds between German and Czech people after the fall of the border. But in the end I think nature and the lands themselves were decisive in bringing the two nations back together. Today the cross-border activities are at an all time high. Thanks to a lot of key-figures who, you could probably say, have dedicated their lives to bringing people back together.

With my photographs I hope I can contribute a small part to this still growing connection between the nations, by showing the beauty of the bohemian landscapes, which started to bring us closer together and stand as one in protecting this unique piece of nature.

They aren’t a really rare species, but due to their contrasty markings quite a nice subject to photograph. In the region I’m from this spider wasn’t known to be here, so finding them was a nice surprise and an adoption to the incredible biodiversity of the Bavarian forest 🤗

Usually the first macros I take in spring are of snakes, however this was a pleasant surprise to test some modifications on my diffuser 😊

She was sitting in a bit of an awkward angel so it was a bit difficult to stack. This picture was stacked from 80 single images with a very small step rate. Turned out quite well 🙌

Already looking forward to their courtship dance later this year 💃🕺
